Katrina Shum is a seasoned sustainability leader with over two decades of experience driving impactful environmental and social initiatives across various industries. She has successfully developed and implemented strategies that enhance brand value, improve operational efficiency, and foster business resilience. Katrina is deeply committed to creating an equitable and thriving planet, guided by her belief in the power of meaningful relationships, empathy, and business leadership.
With expertise spanning retail, manufacturing, personal care/cosmetics, food and beverage, CPG, and hospitality, Katrina excels at identifying connections between emerging opportunities, risks, trends, and research. As the Head of Regeneration & Sustainability at Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics, she led the development of actionable strategies and managed cross-functional teams. Additionally, in her role as Sustainability Director at Aramark, she pioneered pilots and programs aimed at building sustainable food systems.
Katrina’s international experience includes working on ecotourism and community-based tourism projects with local and indigenous communities in Mongolia, Laos, and Malaysia. She also serves on the Board of EMBERS, an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to creating economic and employment opportunities for people facing barriers to work.
Her areas of expertise include corporate sustainability strategy, climate action planning, impact measurement, circularity, zero waste, cross-functional leadership, multi-stakeholder engagement, and integrating sustainability into operational processes, policies, and the built environment. Katrina holds an MBA from Arizona State University and a BS from Cornell University.
