Walter Mark De Oude

With over 18 years of experience as an actuary, Walter has achieved the near-impossible feat of starting a life insurance company from scratch. With a mission to make quality life insurance accessible to all Singaporeans, Singapore Life uses technology to make the process of buying and selling insurance simpler and more efficient for customers. Singapore Life is licenced by the Monetary Authority of Singapore; having achieved SGD 6.6 billion in life insurance coverage in the last five years, it is Singapore’s fastest growing life insurer.

Prior to starting Singapore Life, Walter was CEO of HSBC Insurance (Singapore), a member of the HSBC Bank Exco, and on the Board of HSBC Asset Management. In his four years as CEO, HSBC Insurance (Singapore) was the fastest growing life insurance agency and tripled its life insurance market share. Before his C-suite roles, Walter was in actuarial roles, product development and marketing.

Walter holds an FFA from the Faculty of Actuaries.
