Irena is currently the Director, Stakeholder Forum at Sustainable Forum.
She previously worked for the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, Irena is leading a team of professionals working on UN processes related to sustainable development.
Irena has over 20 years of experience in sustainable development, international relations, diplomacy, policy, advocacy and project management, and national level experience in translating global policies into concrete deliverables on the ground.
Prior to working at the United Nations Secretariat in 2008 in the area of sustainable development, she worked in the Croatian foreign service.
In her current role at the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs, she works to support the implementation of the 2030 Agenda around the world, working with a wide range of actors from governments to private sector, different industries, scientific community, academia, civil society and other relevant actors.
She has broken new ground in many areas of sustainable development, particularly in the areas of sustainable ocean management, notably blue economy, sustainable transport, sustainable consumption and production patterns, including circular and nature-positive economy, as well as nature-based solutions.
Irena is a huge animal lover and stands for the rights of working animals. She adores her dog whose name is Strudel, because he is as sweet as a strudel.
