Ian Wong

Ian is a certified master coach who advocates for fostering strong mentoring and coaching cultures in organizations. He currently serves as Managing Director & Group Head at United Overseas Bank.

While originally inclined towards medical studies, Ian took a different path during his university years and ventured into the banking industry. With a career spanning across Asia, Europe, and the US, he has held leadership roles in country franchises and has been instrumental in driving deals. Prior to his current position at United Overseas Bank, Ian gained valuable experience working with global banks such as Bank of America Merrill Lynch and HSBC.

As the Managing Director & Group Head, Ian oversees various divisions including international banking entities, venture management, global capital, and foreign direct investment. With his certification as a master coach, he is dedicated to bringing out the best in people and advocating for organizations to cultivate robust mentoring and coaching cultures, fostering sustainable growth.

Interestingly, Ian describes himself as an 'accidental banker,' as his childhood dream was to become a doctor.
