Helga Flores Trejo leads global multilateral policy and partnerships at Bayer, driving collaboration with key international organizations such as UN agencies, Multilateral Development Banks, and networks like WEF and G20.
With a background spanning government, international organizations, think tanks, and the private sector, Helga previously directed open innovation at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), establishing strategic partnerships to address development challenges. She also served as Head of External Relations for the Inter-American Investment Corporation (IIC), now BID Invest.
Her diverse roles within the IDB Group included Chief of the Constituencies Unit, Head of Strategic Communications for Sectors, and Advisor on External Relations in Brazil. Earlier in her career, Helga held positions such as Executive Director of the Heinrich Böll Foundation, Chief of Staff for the Bundesrat and European Affairs minister in the Government of Hamburg, and Senior Advisor for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in Belgrade.
Helga Flores Trejo's contributions extend to being a Non-Resident Fellow at the Brookings Institution, receiving fellowships from the German Marshall Fund of the United States, the Prince of Wales’ Business and Environment Program, and the BMW Herbert Quandt Foundation. She has served on the boards of CulturalVistas and the Commission for Civility and Effective Governance of the Center for the Study of the Presidency. Helga is also a member of the Europe-U.S.-Latin America Task Force of the Atlantic Council.
Holding a master's degree in International Relations from Frankfurt University in Germany, Helga is multilingual, fluent in Spanish, German, English, French, and Portuguese.
