Debjani is a veteran of the technology industry in India, and currently the fifth and first female President of the National Association of Software & Services Companies (NASSCOM). NASSCOM, is the premier trade body of the industry in India, with over 2800 Indian and multinational member companies. Guided by the vision of the country to adopt and integrate digital technologies, NASSCOM has been actively working towards enabling a digital transformation in the country through technology integration. As President of NASSCOM, Debjani is responsible for establishing new growth areas for the technology industry in India and works with governments and industry stakeholders to establish policies and initiatives that help accelerate the growth of the sector in India and across the world.
With multiple feathers in her cap, before joining NASSCOM, she was the first woman to lead Intel India and the Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology (MAIT), she was also a member of the executive council at NASSCOM.
She is a firm believer in the power of technology in enhancing lives and livelihoods, leveraging it for societal good. She was instrumental in developing ‘Think Digital, Think India’ strategy to support India's digital transformation journey, especially as an enabler of inclusive growth and development. As the NASSCOM President, she actively works towards accentuating innovation and skilling to enable individuals and companies to leverage disruptive technologies. Her approach has been focused on a three-point agenda – talent development and re-skilling, working on the innovation culture in the country and collaborating with governments across the world to open new opportunities for the Indian IT industry.
In January 2018, she was felicitated by the President of India under the auspices of the ‘First Ladies’ program, which honours exceptional women pioneers in their respective fields. She has also been listed in the ‘100 Most Influential Woman in UK-India Relations: Celebrating women’ list.
Debjani holds a bachelor's degree in political science from Osmania University in Hyderabad, India, and an MBA degree in marketing from S.P. Jain Institute of Management and Research in Mumbai, India.
