Sonjoy Phukan

Sonjoy has been the Global COO of Bank of Singapore since 1 February 2017, and is responsible for spearheading the Bank’s strategic change and transformation programmes. In addition to his COO role, Sonjoy was appointed as interim Global Market Head for South Asia on 5 May 2023.

Prior to joining Bank of Singapore, Sonjoy served as the COO for Asia, Middle East and Africa Offshore, and more recently as the Deputy CEO for the Asian wealth business based in Singapore at Barclays Wealth.

Sonjoy had previously worked for Barclays in London where he was Market Head for the Africa Offshore and NRI business in EMEA. He had also held senior roles at Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan Chase prior to that.

He has an MBA from the London Business School and a First Class Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Trinity College Dublin. Sonjoy was named COO of the Year for 2020 by Asian Private Banker.
