When Lesley Paterson, a 5-time World Champion professional triathlete, retired from sports, she was asked, “What’s next?” She replied that she was moving from Scotland to Los Angeles to write a screenplay and win an Oscar.
If anyone doubted her, they might have felt justified as the years went by. It took 16 years for Lesley’s screenplay, an adaptation of the German anti-war novel “All Quiet on the Western Front,” to get made—it was eventually picked up by Netflix.
Lesley not only succeeded in her goal to win an Oscar—she won four and seven Baftas too. What an extraordinary story of the power of perseverance and believing in yourself.
Lesley also has an amazing technique to overcome self-doubt, which we'll definitely be trying!
