  • The investment will be used for product development, senior hires, market expansion and boosting efforts to support organisations to digitise their learning programs

Singapore; 27th April 2020 — Success enablement platform Tigerhall announces US$2 million funding led by Sequoia Capital India’s rapid scale-up program Surge. Other investors in this round include the XA Network (formerly known as Xoogler Angels), Taurus Ventures and angel investors.

Headquartered in Singapore, Tigerhall helps professionals — regardless of their backgrounds and circumstances — achieve their career and life goals by learning directly from Asia’s most successful people (addressed as Thinkfluencers in the app). These include the COO at Microsoft Singapore, Vice President of Government Affairs & Public Policy APAC at Google, Head of Digital Marketing APAC at Facebook, Head of Partner Marketing Creative at Netflix, Senior Vice President at Gojek, Partner at Deloitte, the former President of AirAsia and the Director of Special Events of the 2008 and 2012 Obama Campaigns. The insights, experiences, successes and mistakes of these decorated business leaders and some of the region’s smartest minds are captured in an app through bite-sized digital content such as Podcasts and Power Reads, as well as in-person experiences such as Private Dinners, Exclusive Lunches and Group Mentorship Sessions.

The app now consists of over 1000 Podcasts, Power Reads, Experiences and Thinkfluencers providing users with the insights they need to achieve their goals. It has also developed its enterprise offerings to help businesses plug pressing skills gaps. Organisations currently subscribing to Tigerhall’s data-driven corporate learning tools include Fortune 500 firms, fast-growing tech companies, large FMCG brands and more.

“Southeast Asia and India are at the cusp of a talent revolution, one that will see both millennials and Gen Zers enter a rapidly evolving corporate landscape in great numbers. For this group, access to high-signal, tech-based learning will be the foremost unmet need in the coming years. Tigerhall has democratized access to this learning by building the category defining platform in this space and we at XA are thrilled to partner with them as they enable exceptional potential across the region”, said Alap Bharadwaj, on behalf of the XA Network.

“My team and I feel extremely grateful and inspired to be backed by visionary investors who share our optimism in redefining the current view on education, and how professionals learn and develop. The importance of digital learning has been magnified because of what the world is going through today, and this investment will further increase the value we provide to individuals and organisations during these challenging times and beyond,” said Tigerhall CEO Nellie Wartoft. “With supportive investors like Surge and XA Network on our side, we are confident that we can fulfil our vision of providing every person, regardless of their background or circumstances, with access to success”.

Since its launch in March 2019, Tigerhall has grown from two to 15 employees while expanding its offerings to Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai and Bangalore. With product development, new senior hires, market expansion and supporting organisations in digitalising their learning programmes being key focus areas this year, the investment is set to accelerate the momentum garnered by the team in the last 12 months.

About Nellie Wartoft, CEO of Tigerhall

Education and learning has been a key interest for Nellie since her younger days. At the age of 16, she set up her first business in Sweden providing senior citizens with a platform to enhance their digital literacy. She also founded S.H.O.T in 2010, a marketing agency that helped businesses in Sweden and Singapore increase customer engagement and raise awareness through social media.

Nellie moved to Singapore in 2011 when she was 18 and has called the Lion City her home since then. Upon completing her university studies, she joined Michael Page International where she rose through the ranks to lead the sales and marketing recruitment practice in Singapore. She placed over 200 executives in regional roles and was the youngest Senior Consultant to ever be promoted at the firm worldwide. She was also consistently ranked in the top 3% of revenue generators at group level.

It was during her time at Michael Page International that Nellie saw pressing skills gaps between what employers wanted to hire and the skills the candidates had – especially in areas such as leadership, commercial, and influential skills. She therefore thought of the idea to help today’s professionals upskill and learn directly from Asia’s most successful experts. She founded Tigerhall after her four-year stint at Michael Page International.
